About me

David Ficek connects the fields of theatre, music, and audiovisual creation. He is currently completing a Master's degree in Lighting and Audiovisual Design for Live Arts at DAMU, where he previously graduated from the Bachelor's program in Directing and Dramaturgy of Alternative and Puppet Theatre. He has long been engaged in devised theatre, electronic music production, and DJing.

During his studies at DAMU, he participated in a number of original projects. The puppet production Ř.I.P., on which he worked as director and dramaturg, received the award for Best Student Production at the Dream Factory Festival 2023. He also created the sound design for the performance IS JOY and for the unique series of discussion evenings Debata pro loutky at Archa+. In 2025, he completed an internship at Theater BRUT in Vienna as an assistant dramaturg.

Under the pseudonym Chubasquero, he composes electronic music and regularly performs as a DJ. He is a resident of the Prague club Akropolis Underground and the Papír bar in Liberec. At the same time, he is a member of the experimental music formation Padá penis něco si přej.

His work focuses on exploring dialogue between theatre, music, and technology, on collective processes, and on creating hybrid formats that connect sound, image, and performance into a unified expressive language.
